Le Cuvier Pick Up Party Change Of Venue

To all of our dear Elliptical Society club members, & to all other interested parties as well, this is a bloggie note to everyone who has been anticipating that we will hold our Fall Wine Pick Up Party at the new winery this coming weekend: well, we won’t. That is, we won’t hold the Party at the new place, but we are most definitely still having are Party at the old winery out on Adelaida Road.

I reluctantly reset the venue for our Party even though the new place is nearly complete. Here below is a photo from yesterday of the new subterranean barrel room showing roughly 1/3 of our barrels already moved in. The balance of barrels will be moved over the next 2 or 3 days:

 

So what’s the story? Why the change in venue back to the old place?? We sent out an email a couple of days ago wherein I wept over the change, but if per chance you did not get our email, here it is “reprinted” below: 

As you have doubtlessly heard me promise any number of times, we fully intended to begin hosting you at our new winery & tasting room beginning Friday the 23^rd of September, which is officially the first day of the weekend of this Fall's Elliptical Society Pick Up Party. Even though the construction crews have been working like demons, I have had to conclude that we won’t be “legal” in time for the Party. SO PLEASE PLAN TO JOIN US AT THE OLD LOCATION AT 9750 ADELAIDA ROAD FOR ONE LAST BASH.

Why won’t we be “legal”? Alas, before we can welcome you at the new place, we need to gain possession of something called a Certificate of Occupancy, which is a little document that I have been assured will not be issued without the prior consent of a myriad of disparate & ill disposed agencies. Pity, because the place is really starting to look grand, but with 300 or so of your fellow Elliptical Members & their guests expected over the course of Party Weekend, it seemed rather rash to tempt bureaucratic fate.

Thus & therefore, we are asking you to join us at the old place for one last Elliptical Society Pick Up Party. As noted, the Party begins Friday September 23rd & goes through Sunday the 25th. On Friday you will taste Le Cuvier's Fall wines with beautifully paired wine & hors d'oeuvres prepared by our own Lady of the Kitchen, Tiani. Or come visit on Saturday or Sunday when the hors d'oeuvres will be an offering prepared by Bistro Laurent. Whichever day or days you choose to visit, I'm quite sure that you can make profitable use of the occasion to write a final wise & witty comment on the old commode's walls, & to otherwise wish a fond good by to all of the glow-in-the-dark comments which have been scribbled across the toilet's flat black surface over the years.

And you might now be wondering just when these strange people are really & finally going to move into the new place. I refuse to answer that question, or make further vain predictions; rather, this time I will wait until I actually have the mystical Certificate of Occupancy in hand before I utter a single word. Beyond that you can rest assured that the entire Le Cuvier staff will raise up their collective voice in shouts of praise the moment the damned Certificate  is firmly & finally issued . . . hopefully we will be “legal” by the end of September, but surely by Harvest Festival on October 22^nd. Hmm, that rather sounds like another prediction, doesn’t it?
